Absurdia Series

Panty hose, beads, collage photos, brass hoops.

Large hoops: 12” by 12”

Medium hoops: 5” by 5”

Small hoops: 4” by 4”

This is a collection inspired by the relationship between animals and humans. I originally purchased these materials in an attempt to create a separate art piece, but when that didn’t go as I expected, I realized that the brass hoops were a perfect substitute for an embroidery hoop, and so I experimented with sewing beads on top of it. This led to the scene of the yeti in the top right corner. From there, I let my imagination run wild. The texture in this piece is so pleasing to me, and I love the undercurrent of surrealism, which I haven’t explored in my other pieces. But, like my other works, this piece continues to exemplify my attention to small details.
