Charcoal Perfume Bottle

Vine charcoal, white and light gray Conte crayon on toned gray paper

18.5” by 25.5”

2024

This piece was an assignment for my Drawing Foundations Class at RISD Pre-college, where we were asked to draw an object from a unique perspective in charcoal. I chose to draw a glass perfume bottle from above because I loved the shadows and lights cast in the angles of the glass, and wanted to capture it in this piece. I think that my drawing demonstrates my ability to draw from observation and recreate the movement of light through an unconventional medium. One of the skills that I have developed the most throughout my artistic journey is realism, which motivates me to create highly detailed and eye-catching works. This piece was chosen by my professor to be in the Foundations Exhibition at the end of the program.
